Learning Objective: Help practice owners assess where they are overworked, overwhelmed, or inefficient, and introduce a framework for reclaiming control using advisory support, cash flow analysis, procedures and metrics.
Large & equine veterinary practice owners often lie awake thinking about challenges that have little to do with patient care: cash flow, debt, long hours, operational inefficiencies, and a practice that depends too heavily on them. This session will help large-animal and equine practice owners evaluate four common sources of financial and personal pressure:
- Evaluate whether cash is coming into the practice quickly enough to meet payroll, pay operating expenses, manage debt, and appropriately compensate the owner.
- Identify areas where the practice depends too heavily on the owner’s time, availability, and willingness to solve every problem—and consider changes that could improve quality of life.
- Recognize how unproductive travel, scheduling gaps, missed charges, underpriced calls, and other ambulatory inefficiencies erode practice profitability.
- Identify recurring responsibilities and decisions that can be documented, delegated, or streamlined so the practice can function more effectively without constant owner involvement.
- Attendees will leave with practical questions and ideas they can use to begin reclaiming control of their practices.
