The Problem with Bleeding to Death
Oct 15, 2026

Your patient is bleeding to death—and traditional fluid therapy may be making it worse. Severe trauma and hemorrhagic shock trigger a cascade of endothelial injury and coagulopathy that prevents effective clot formation and accelerates cardiovascular collapse.
This session will focus on modern, blood-based resuscitation strategies to reverse these lethal processes. Attendees will learn how to select and use blood products effectively, avoid the pitfalls of crystalloid resuscitation, and apply critical adjuncts such as calcium supplementation and antifibrinolytics at the right time.
Walk away with practical, immediately applicable strategies to improve survival in your most critical bleeding patients.
- Describe the systemic consequences of trauma and severe hemorrhagic shock.
- Explain the clinical consequences of endotheliopathy of trauma and trauma-induced coagulopathy.
- Apply a systematic approach to hemostatic resuscitation, including hemorrhage control, temperature management, fluid and blood product selection, and adjunctive therapies.
