Blocked Goat Triage and Management for the Mixed Animal Practitioner

Blocked goats (and sheep) are one of the most common emergencies in livestock practice. This session will focus on triage, stabilization and management of obstructive urolithiasis including efficient diagnostic workup, review of abdominal FAST scan with ultrasound, radiography, placement of percutaneous cystostomy tubes, exteriorization and amputation of the urethral process, fluid therapy options, and medication options for companion ruminants. Attendees will also learn about common post-obstructive management and recommendations for prevention.
