Pain is a very individual sensation and the best way to identify pain in a patient and the only way to know if our analgesic protocols are truly effective is to LOOK for pain in every patient. The importance of pain scoring and the contribution of the entire veterinary team in implementing/maintaining scoring will be discussed. Also, practice patients will be scored using EASY pain scoring systems.
- After this session the attendee will be able to:
- 1.Believe in the importance of acute pain scoring – especially postoperative scoring - in every patient.
- 2.Commit to using pain scoring in the attendee’s practice.
- 3.Involve and train both doctors and technicians in pain scoring and facilitate conversation between team members. It is all about the patient!
