Field Triage of the Neonatal Foal

This lecture will cover the essentials of how to evaluate and triage a neonatal foal in the field. Common conditions encountered in neonatal foals including sepsis, "dummy foal syndrome" meconium impaction and diarrhea will be discussed with emphasis on how to diagnose and begin treatment in the field to optimize outcomes, and when to refer.
