Persistent Pain, Progressive Care: Rethinking Chronic Pain in Veterinary Medicine

Chronic pain can be very difficult to treat, but treatment is imperative for the patient’s health, behavior and quality of life. A variety of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for chronic pain in dogs and cats will be discussed and evidence of efficacy presented in a patient-centered approach.

  • After this session the attendee will be able to:
  • 1.Understand the negative impact of chronic pain on the patient.
  • 2.Identify pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments for chronic pain that are backed by science.
  • 3.Choose chronic pain protocols for specific canine and feline patients.
