Get Your Hands Dirty

Looking for an additional challenge to enhance your learning at Wild West Vet? Sign up for one of our small-scale labs & workshops. These hands-on sessions provide the perfect opportunity to ask questions, get feedback, and gain the crucial experience to put these new skills into practice.

Immerse yourself in one or more of these opportunities, which offer a small-group learning environment with our top-tier instructors. These labs and workshops are the perfect place for those who are tight on time, but still want to tackle a new procedure or freshen up an existing skill.

Beginner Ultrasound Laboratory

Speaker: To be confirmed

Date: Friday, October 25, 2019

Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Location: Nevada Humane Society. A shuttle will be provided.

CE Units: 3.0

Cost:  $599

Capacity: 20 attendees

Open to: all attendees

There's a mandatory pre-lab lecture on October 23, 6.10 PM - 8.10 PM, in Clinical Theater 3 (Grand Sierra Resort).

This laboratory is geared towards finding the “Big 5”. Hands-on training with experienced sonographers will rapidly give you the confidence to not only find the organs but also see each organ completely.  The lab will give a great opportunity to scan different animals with different instructors to gain experience with the machines and probes.

Intermediate / Advanced Ultrasound Laboratory

Date: Friday, October 25, 2019

Time: 1:00 PM– 4:00 PM

Location: Nevada Humane Society. A shuttle will be provided.

CE Units: 3.0

Cost:  $599

Capacity: 20 attendees

Open to: all attendees

There's a mandatory pre-lab lecture on October 24, 6.00 PM - 8.00 PM, in Clinical Theater 3 (Grand Sierra Resort).

This laboratory is geared towards finding the smaller structures within the abdomen. Adding to the basic acquisition of the “Big 5” the smaller organs will be found. Normal anatomical structures will be identified to facilitate finding the smaller structures such as lymph nodes and pancreas. The lab will give a great opportunity to scan different animals with different instructors to gain experience with the machines and probes.

Surgeries of the Equine Eyelid Lab

Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Location: Grand Sierra Resort, Limited Enrollment Sessions Theater

CE Units: 3.0

Cost:  $199

Capacity: 15 attendees

Open to: veterinarians only

Perfect your routine eyelid surgeries including entropion repair, eyelid laceration repair, and eyelid mass removal. Learn when to lubricate the eye versus opting for surgical correction with entropion. Techniques for repairing complicated eyelid lacerations and options for eyelid margin mass removal will also be covered.
