Behavior problems negatively affect the animal’s welfare and compromise the human-animal bond. Undesirable behavior remains the leading cause of relinquishment and euthanasia in physically healthy dogs and cats. Weighing the risk factors of the behavior and the impact those behaviors may have on the pet, family and public are important in determining prognosis and if pursuit of treatment is appropriate or not.
- Recognize the impact behavior problems on prognosis
- Create risk evaluation for behavior concerns, particularly focused on aggression
- Develop tools to meet clients where they are at and guide them on the details they may need to make an educated decision
