The Progression of Lameness in the Geriatric Horse

Oct 21, 2023
Tahoe Clinical Theater
Equine
As our population of horses gets older, the etiology of equine lameness evolves. What a young healthy horse could withstand, an older horse may not due to an array of variables affecting horses over time. This lecture will discuss laminitis secondary to endocrinopathies, podotrochlear syndrome, and the roll that conformation plays in the evolution of unsoundness. In addition, soft tissue, collagen-based disorders, and degenerative joint disease will be presented.
