After working years as a vet, Dr Tom Walsh found his niche--small animal rehab. He first established PrimePet Rehab, a mobile small animal rehabilitation and physical therapy service that treats animals at a number of veterinary clinics. Today, he has 5000 square ft and sees 30 dogs a day. Therapeutic laser is integral to his practice and is used daily to provide inflammation and pain reduction and to speed healing times. Dr Walsh started using laser for post-op, IVDD recovery and trauma. He saw recovery for back surgery reduced from 4-6 weeks to less than half the time. Improvement in recovery time made a big difference for owners going through a traumatic event with their pets and helped the animals relax as well. After seeing the results he got from his early work with laser, Dr Walsh expanded the scope of conditions he treats and often uses it in combination with other treatment modalities with great results.
