Mark has been a Credentialed Veterinary Technician since 2013, originally from Phoenix, Arizona where he got his start in specialty anesthesia and surgery at a multi-specialty practice. He has been in the zoo field for the last 8 years, having worked at the Oklahoma City Zoo, Phoenix Zoo and Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, WI. Mark has a clinical interest in anesthesia/analgesia of exotic species and elevating the standard of care for exotics through innovative medicine.
Mark also has a special interest in teaching and has recently joined a group of privately owned hospitals in the Philadelphia and South New Jersey areas as a clinical resource for veterinarians and technicians for exotic species. Mark has published case studies for the Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians on novel surgical treatments in zoo species, and has contributed to textbooks and research publications. He credits much of the the information he has to share with others to the collaborative relationships with colleagues across disciplines and within zoo med.
Mark has 1 cat named Maja, a leopard gecko named Ein Zane Pearce and a dog named Homer. He really loves Crossfit too!
