Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Dr. Julie Bulman-Fleming earned her bachelor's degree in animal biology from the University of British Columbia. She went on to pursue her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, where she discovered her passion for oncology. Graduating with great distinction, she then completed an internship in small animal medicine, surgery, and critical care at the Ontario Veterinary College before returning to the West Coast.
In 2008, Dr. Bulman-Fleming joined Veterinary Cancer Group in Southern California, where she completed her residency in medical oncology in 2011. She currently serves as Medical Director and ACVIM Residency Program Director at Veterinary Cancer Group, and also holds the role of National Specialty Director of Oncology for Thrive Pet Healthcare.
Her professional interests include teaching and mentorship, client education, palliative care, and exploring the role of the immune system in cancer development and treatment. Outside of her veterinary work, Dr. Bulman-Fleming enjoys circus arts, loves cats, and loves traveling with her young family.
