Austin was born and raised Reno NV where she grew up riding and training her own horses. She worked as a veterinary assistant at a large and small animal practice in college. Austin went to the University of Nevada Reno as a Pre-Veterinary student before ultimately changing her major to criminal justice. Austin has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and became a Reno Police Officer in 2013. Austin worked as a beat officer all over the city before testing to become a narcotics and vice Detective in 2015. Austin is a drug recognition expert, and a crisis/hostage negotiator. Austin specializes in prescription drug cases as a collateral duty. Austin is also the trainer for the Reno Police Department Mounted Unit, so she understands the veterinary profession and how it crosses paths with Law Enforcement today.
