After 13 years in large animal practice in Texas, Nevada, and Colorado, Dr. Alex Turner began working in regulatory medicine for the Colorado Department of Agriculture in the State Veterinarian's Office as the Traceability Veterinarian for Colorado. Lending a hand with multiple animal disease incident responses (Vesicular Stomatitis, Tuberculosis, Coxiellosis) and helping work with the accredited veterinarians of his home state of Colorado was a great opportunity and lead to his current job with the USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). In his current role as the Assistant Director of the National Animal Disease Traceability and Veterinary Accredition Center in Veterinary Services, Dr. Turner helps to oversee the Animal Disease Traceability (ADT) program for the country, as well as working with the National Veterinary Accreditation Program (NVAP) which guides the nation's accredited veterinarians. Dr. Turner has worked for USDA for 4 years from Colorado, where he originally hails from.
